Makeup Geek Pressed Eyeshadow Singles Review Part 1

In this review I will be looking at the Makeup Geek shades Lemon Drop, Poppy, Early Bird, Morocco, and Wild West.

An eye look made with Poppy and Early Bird applied all over the lid, Lemon Drop in the inner corner, Morocco in the crease, and Wild West in the outer edge. Eyeshadow applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden. Paired with Stila Stay All Day liquid eyeliner in intense black and Yves Saint Laurent Babydoll mascara.

Makeup Geek Early Bird is a matte eyeshadow single in a 26 mm pan that sells for $6USD on Makeup Geek’s website. Makeup Geek describes this shade as a “pumpkin orange with a matte finish”. I found the shade to be a matte light yellow-orange.

This shade went on smooth with a brush and lasted about 10 hours without fading or creasing (when paired with eyeshadow primer). My only complaint about it is that it isn’t that pigmented, although I think this is partially due to it being a lighter shade.

Four and a half star Goes on smooth and stays well but could be more pigmented

Makeup Geek Poppy is a matte eyeshadow in a 26 mm pan that sells for $6USD on Makeup Geek’s website. Makeup Geek describes this shade as a “matte orange with subtle pink undertones.” I didn’t really find the pink undertones to be subtle at all since the whole shade looked much more pink than orange.

This shade went on smooth and lasted about 12 hours without creasing (with primer). I found this shade to be much more pigmented than Early Bird, and I didn’t need to apply as much to get a nice lid color. The color blended nicely and did not show any patchiness.

Five star Smooth and pigmented and lasts throughout the day

Makeup Geek Lemon Drop is a shimmery eyeshadow in a 26 mm pan that sells for $6USD on Makeup Geek’s website. Makeup Geek describes this shade as a “shimmery bright lemon yellow.” I find this description to be fairly accurate, although the shimmer is fairly subtle.

This shade applied very smoothly with good pigmentation. As an inner eye highlight, I didn’t have to apply much at all for it to be noticeable. It also lasted about 12 hours (with primer), even with my watery eyes!

Five star Very smooth to apply and great for a pop of color

Makeup Geek Morocco is a matte eyeshadow in a 26 mm pan that sells for $6USD on Makeup Geek’s website. Makeup Geek describes this shade as a “rich, burnt orange with a matte finish.” I found this shade to definitely be more of an earthy orange, but I’m not sure I would exactly call it a burnt orange.

This shade went on smooth with a brush and lasted about 12 hours (with primer). Compared to the other orange shade, Early Bird, I found this to be much more pigmented. In my opinion, this would be a great shade if you want to try orange eyeshadow but don’t want it to look too crazy.

Five star A nice earthy orange that can spice up some neutral looks

Makeup Geek Wild West is a matte eyeshadow in a 26 mm pan that sells for $6USD on Makeup Geek’s website. Makeup Geek describes this shade as a “rich rose-brown with a matte finish.” I find this description to be pretty accurate as the shade is a dusty rose.

This shade didn’t apply quite as smooth as the shades above, but it wasn’t bad by any means. The color works well as a rose toned neutral and has good pigmentation. It also lasted about 14 hours (with primer).

Four and a half star A good rose toned neutral but could apply a little smoother
